Railway Administration with the aid of the British and Chinese

Corporation.

When work of construction is ready to begin a Board

chall be appointed for supervising construction to be called the

Foard of Commissioners, whose head Office shall be at Hongkong.

This Board to be composed of five members each of whom

chull have one vote: 1.0.

2 members representing the Imperial Chinese Rullway

Administration.

2 members representing the British & Chinese Corporation.

and the Engineer in Chief who shall be appointed and be

renovable by the British 7: Chinese Corporation.

In addition to the above members the Viceroy of Canton may also

appoint an officiel of renk to this Board, whose duty will be

to report to him on the state of the rullway accounts and pro-

cress of the work of the railway, but who shell have no vote.

Construction may to curried out either departmentally or

through the agency of contractors or in whatever way chall

appeur most likely to produce effective construction is the most

economicel momer.

The executive work to be under the supervision of the

Engineer-in-Chief and to bo in accordance with plans and

specifications approved by the Consulting Engineers.

Work to be commenced within 12 months of signing the

Agreement otherwise Agreement null and void.

The line when completed to be a first class railway on

the standard mage of 4 feet 8 im hes, with all necessary

accessories for the working of the traffic which may reasonably

be expected t ́ereon.
